MEN’S WEEKEND AT HALLS GAP 2006
This was a great weekend of fellowship, food, thinking, and inter-action between fifty-three participants aged from 18 to 80 years. A wonderful opportunity to regroup and recharge under the insightful, thought provoking guidance of Rev. Neil Ryan. What a wonderful speaker, carrying the simple message "Seizing the Moment". The genius of the man was that he was able to encapsulate thirty years of serving into a few crystal clear phrases, such as: • Tragedy is the life we don't live • The most spiritual thing we can do is to do something • In response to a seeking heart, God will do something • There is no such thing as a no-risk faith • Vision always precedes provision • We need to be servants, not soldiers. The fantastic food ensured that the weight watchers amongst us will not be getting elephant stamps or gold stars at the next Weight Watchers meeting! A big thank you to Ros Mitchell and Yvonne Mackintosh. The singing led by Andrew Starbuck on keyboard ensured that the vocal cords were well exercised. Thanks Andrew. We even had "ghosts" operating after hours. Some seemed to be working with chain saws, and one was proficient on the didgeridoo! As a result, some participants missed out on their full measure of sleep. As with most gatherings, a great deal of value came from the camaraderie built up, and the coming together of Christian men guaranteed open discussions and frank exchanges of ideas. Those who had visions of God's direction in their lives were certainly determined to push them through. All were going to do "something' for God. Thanks Macka, thanks ESA. - Bernie Hartley
